Nature vs. Nurture - Debate

Nature and nurture are terms that help us describe a person's aspect in psychology. Nature describes the characteristics that we posses through genetics. On the other hand, nurture describes our behavior and way of acting due to the ways we are taught and how the environments in which we live have an effect in our actions. The first to use the term of nature vs. nurture was an English scientist named Francis Galton who wrote a book called English Men of Science: Their Nature and Nurture. Personality, athletic ability, intelligence, criminal minds are huge topic that are controversial and still debated. It is believed that the previous topics mentioned are not at exactly on point. In other words, they aren’t absolutely genetic or environmental. They are said to be in the middle of the line, some pulled more toward nature and others pulled toward the nurture point. It is believed that we act the way we act because of nature: which are the actions we follow throughout our childhood and nurture: which is the actions that depend on our DNA structure. I firmly believe as well that both nature and nurture, both genetics and the environment have a huge impact in your actions.
